Portrait of street and documentary photographer Sebastian Szczepanowski
Seb Szczepanowski
Polish street and documentary photographer based in Wrocław, Poland
I work with photography as a form of attention.
My projects are built around presence, everyday rituals, and the quiet relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit. I am drawn to moments that are incomplete, suspended, or seemingly insignificant — where meaning appears not through action, but through proximity, light, and time.
I approach photography slowly, returning to the same places and situations, allowing images to emerge rather than be taken. The city, temporary communities, domestic interiors, and shared silence recur in my work as recurring structures rather than subjects.
Photography, for me, is not about description, but about staying with what remains.
I am a psychotherapist by profession, which shapes the way I observe, listen, and work with human presence.
